“Andrew genuinely went above and beyond to provide us a well considered and nuanced pre-purchase survey. He was super flexible in terms of our complicated schedule and logistics and was open to all of our new-boat-owner questions. Money well spent.”
“Andrew did a pre purchase survey/ inspection for us. I was pleasantly surprised how thorough he was and the time taken to do the survey. The next day we were provided with a comprehensive report. Definitely would recommend Andrew”
“Recently used Andrew's services to carry out a pre-purchase survey on a Bavaria 34 yacht, and I couldn't be more impressed. Andrew's knowledge and attention to detail were outstanding. He left no stone unturned during the inspection, and the survey report was exceptionally thorough, detailed, and easy to understand. This wasn't the first boat survey I've had done, and Andrew is by far the most professional marine surveyor I've come across. He took the time to discuss every issue he found, answer my questions, and provide practical, honest advice without any pressure. If you're considering purchasing a boat, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Andrew. His pricing is affordable, competitive, and represents excellent value for the quality of service he provides.”
“Andrew carried out a full survey on a yacht we were going to purchase. He went over everything with a fine tooth comb and shared his findings along the way. His 41 page report was very comprehensive. We had our hearts set on this yacht but Andrew found a big issue with the boat and saved us lots of money, for that we are very grateful. We would definitely recommend Andrew and will definitely use him again! Thank you again Andrew V & M”
“Andrew made the entire survey process seamless. He was easy to book, highly professional on-site, and turned the report around quickly. It’s hard to find independent surveyors with this level of expertise and customer service. Will definitely use his services again.”
A practical cruising guide for the Moyne River port at the mouth of the Moyne River on Victoria’s south-west coast. It explains harbour geometry, seasonal conditions, principal sailing zones, anchorages, visitor facilities, known local hazards (bar, reefs, strong currents, surf and commercial traffic), regulatory controls and realistic experiences for day sailors, trailer-sailors and coastal cruisers. The guide draws on local port plans, state boating authorities, the yacht club’s visiting-boat practice and regional marine management documents.
Expect very different seasonal systems across Western Australia: the south‑west (Perth to Albany) has a strong summer afternoon sea breeze (the “Fremantle Doctor”) and winter westerly fronts, while northern WA follows a wet/dry monsoonal cycle with strong seasonal onshore winds, thunderstorms and cyclone risk in the wet season. Local headlands, estuaries and tidal flows often change what you actually feel on the water, so learn the local timing and sheltered venues first.

Explore →Late spring to summer is usually the best time for beginners to start learning to sail in Tasmania because the weather is generally warmer, days are longer and conditions are often more settled. Expect lighter to moderate winds with regular afternoon sea breees in summer, while spring and autumn bring more changeable and sometimes stronger conditions; winter is colder, wetter and typically windier with more fronts and swell.
