“The team at the gold coast boating centre were excellent to deal with from the start to receiving my boat.Their experience and knowledge of boats and some of my ideas the Formosa was fitted out exactly to meet all my request. I now have a great offshore fishing boat that has meet all my expectations. The fishing and recreational time with my family and friends is priceless.”

“I bought a brand‑new boat from Gold Coast Boating Centre — a purchase of over $200k — and honestly the whole experience has been disappointing from day one. When I picked it up, all the manuals and info were just thrown into a cardboard box. I even had to go and buy engine supports myself just so I could drive it home safely. The boat also had marks on the hull and the cabin door straight out of the showroom. After only two outings I had to take it back because the trailer winch post was loose, the transducer was loose and hanging down, the windscreen wiper didn’t work, the sounder was getting interference from the lights, and the rocket launcher wouldn’t lock in. Not exactly what you expect from a brand‑new setup, let alone one in this price range. A month later I was back again because the Garmin Kraken trolling motor prop fell off during use and the trim tab anode was missing. Their response was basically, “Well, they were there when the boat was here, so it must be something you did.” No accountability at all. Then the trolling motor itself was replaced by Garmin due to a software issue. GCBC installed the new one… and that one fell off on its second use. Their explanation? That we must have removed the R‑clip. Again, straight to blaming us instead of even considering that something might have been installed incorrectly. We have a full email trail of every issue and response, so everything here is documented. When you spend over $200k on a new boat, you expect reliability”

Hi Nathan and Lauren, We want to clarify a few points for anyone reading: the issues you identified shortly after delivery (the trailer winch post, transducer position, wiper function, sounder interference, and rocket launcher adjustment) were all addressed promptly under manufacturer warranty at no cost to you. We personally transported the boat back to Telwater to ensure everything met manufacturer standards, and any cosmetic marks noted at handover were also rectified. Regarding the Garmin Kraken motor: When we installed Garmin's replacement, we calibrated and fitted it to Garmin's specifications. The quick-release mounting system didn't show any structural failure, and Garmin has advised that the motor cannot detach if the retaining pin and clip remain in place. We didn't find evidence of installation fault, so we suggested the matter go to insurance and Garmin for their review. We understand that experiencing issues with a new boat is frustrating, particularly at this investment level. That is why every manufacturer warranty item raised was addressed promptly and professionally. If Garmin comes back with any new findings, we're absolutely open to reviewing them with you. – Gold Coast Boating Centre
