“Peter was thorough and meticulous in his approach in how he carried out the inspection. The feedback was positive and the report arrived the same day. He has a wealth of knowledge and is highly recommended”
“Peter was recommended to us as an independent surveyor for our pre-purchase boat survey, and we were very pleased with the service he provided. He was extremely thorough and took the time to carefully assess the vessel and explain his findings. His report was well structured, easy to understand, and provided us with a clear list of items requiring attention along with their priority. The report has given us a much better understanding of the vessel’s condition and has been extremely useful in helping us make an informed decision about the purchase and plan for any work that may be required. I would have no hesitation in recommending Peter to anyone looking for a thorough, professional and independent marine surveyor.”
Thanks very much for the review Colin!
“I found Peter to be very professional, he was very thorough arrived on time and his report was very clear and concise.”

“I have used them on several occasions and found them to be very professional.”
Thanks very much for the review Rex.
“I used Peter at the recommendation of the marina to survey a 43' monohull I'm in the process of restoring. Needless to say I couldn't be happier with the service. There are the obvious things - the inspection was thorough and detailed, and he was on time (actually early!). There are also the less obvious but more important things - his knowledge of boats is extensive, to the point where we were talking through some finer points of recommendation he had whilst the haul out was happening. To top it off, I emailed him a number of questions entirely unrelated to the survey asking for general advice, and he fired back detailed answers (and all of it free of charge). I don't really know what you could want more in someone - knowledgeable, professional, friendly and treats people as people rather than a sheer revenue stream. Highly, highly recommended and will be using him again.”
Thanks for the awesome review Jamie!
Batemans Bay and the Clyde River form a classic NSW South Coast cruising region where a sheltered, tidal estuary meets a short, island‑dotted entrance to the Tasman Sea. It’s distinctive for easy access from Canberra, a mix of river and bay sailing, a compact marina and mooring network, and a river entrance (the Clyde River bar) that can change rapidly. The area suits day sails, weekend cruising, trailer‑boat exploration and sheltered coastal passages; offshore or long‑passage plans require careful timing and local knowledge. Plan passages across Spencer Gulf or to Kangaroo Island by basing fuel on your boat’s actual consumption plus a generous reserve, choosing sensible staging/stop options that match your boat and crew, and prioritising shelter and weather windows (gale fronts, strong winds and tidal streams can make the gulf uncomfortable or unsafe). Confirm fuel availability, safe anchorages or marinas on your route, and check up-to-date local weather, tide and navigation information before you go.

Explore →Maybe — it depends. In NSW you often need registration and a boat operator licence for motorised vessels, but many small trailerable sailing dinghies without engines don’t require boat registration or a licence. Check the specific rules for your craft, trailer and engine.
Explore →There are legal obligations in Western Australia for recreational boat owners and skippers covering vessel registration, carriage of safety equipment and general skipper responsibilities, but the exact requirements depend on vessel type, size, where you sail and whether the vessel is commercial or recreational. Check the Western Australian Department of Transport (DoT WA) and the national authority for the precise checklist that applies to your boat and voyage.
