About
Outback Marine Australia is a specialist in the systems that keep a cruising boat powered and comfortable. From batteries, solar and charging to inverters, switchgear, refrigeration, air conditioning and navigation electronics, the Yatala-based online supplier is built for owners and installers planning serious 12V, 24V or off-grid upgrades.
Service area: Australia-wide online delivery
Established in 1998, Outback Marine Australia focuses on marine, mobile and off-grid electrical systems. Its Gold Coast warehouse in Yatala supports an online business that serves boat owners, installers and builders around Australia.
The range follows the whole onboard power chain: solar generation, alternator charging, battery banks and monitoring, inverters and chargers, circuit protection, switching and distribution. It also extends into marine electronics, lighting, refrigeration and air conditioning, making it possible to design a coherent system rather than buy isolated components.
Battery chemistry, cable sizing, charging profiles, loads and network compatibility all interact. Outback Marine’s technical focus is valuable when moving to lithium, adding solar, improving refrigeration efficiency or rebuilding a tired electrical panel.

“Great service!”
“I bought Ruuvi temperature sensors for my boat. Delivery was fast and the company was efficient. I am very happy with the sensors as they integrate with my victron cerbo GX and allow me to set alarms if the fridge or freezer lose temperature control. Very easy setup.”

“As a repeat customer they always meet or exceed expectations for product quality, service and price.”

Bathurst Harbour (Port Davey system), in south‑west Tasmania, is a vast, almost land‑locked estuarine harbour inside the Southwest National Park and World Heritage Area. It offers a remote, sheltered anchoring environment protected from the Roaring Forties, but demands careful planning, an awareness of marine‑reserve rules, and a willingness to operate in shallow, tannin‑stained waters. Best suited to experienced coastal cruisers and small expedition yachts prepared for self‑sufficiency, Bathurst Harbour is more a place to linger and explore on foot and by tender than a port of call for busy,

Keep the boat balanced by steering a consistent course for the sail trim and by moving crew weight fore/aft and side-to-side to control helm and reduce weather or lee helm. Upwind you aim for a slight weather helm and a heel that lets the sails work efficiently; downwind you flatten the boat a little, ease sheets to prevent luffing or accidental broaches, and shift weight aft as the apparent wind drops.

Legal safety equipment for recreational boats in South Australia depends on the type, size and where you operate; you must check the current SA government requirements for your vessel. Independently of legal minimums, carry a sensible set of recommended items (lifejackets, means of communication, signaling, fire protection, anchor and basic tools) and make them usable and maintained.
