Definition
Constructed by plotting the tidal stream vector from the starting position for the passage duration, opening dividers to one hour's boat speed through the water, and cutting the intended ground track from the end of the tide vector. The direction of that cut line is the course to steer through the water, to which leeway and compass corrections are then applied. The distance from tide vector origin to the cut point along the track gives the speed made good.
