Definition
Issued by the Met Office for 31 sea areas around the British Isles and broadcast on BBC Radio 4 long wave four times daily, with gale warnings, the general synopsis, then area forecasts in a fixed order and format. Each area gives wind direction and force, weather, and visibility, using defined terms: good exceeds 5 nautical miles, moderate is 2 to 5, poor is 1000 metres to 2, and fog is below 1000 metres.
