Definition
A base plate with the 57 navigational stars plotted by SHA and declination, used with transparent latitude templates and a blank template for planets, which must be plotted from current almanac data. Set for the LHA of Aries at the intended observation time, it predicts the approximate altitude and azimuth of each visible star. This allows the sextant to be preset, making it far easier to find a star in the brief twilight window.
