Definition
A white light placed as near the stern as practicable, showing an unbroken arc of 135 degrees, that is 67.5 degrees either side of right aft, so that it exactly fills the gap left by the two sidelights. Minimum range is 3 miles for vessels of 50 metres or more and 2 miles for smaller vessels. A sailing vessel under 20 metres may combine it with her sidelights in a single tricolour lantern.
