Found by entering the tidal curve with the required height of tide and reading off the times at which the rising and falling curve crosses it, giving the earliest and latest safe transit times. The window must be reduced by the passage time across the shoal and by a safety margin. For a bar entry needing 2.0 m on a tide peaking at 3.4 m, the window may span several hours around high water.
