Hey guys, we put this guide together at YouSail to help crews begin planning the coastal run from Coffs Harbour to Yamba and Iluka. This is a rewarding Mid North Coast passage, but the final approach crosses the Clarence River bar. Weather, swell, river discharge, tide, depths, navigation marks, marina availability and port operations change. The coordinates below are planning references only. They are not a route to load into an autopilot and follow without question.
Use current official charts, notices and forecasts, inspect the live bar webcam, speak with Marine Rescue Iluka Yamba and the destination marina, and make your own decision for your vessel and crew. Talk with local sailors, yacht clubs, marina staff and cruising groups. If the entrance or passage does not look right, wait or remain safely offshore while a viable alternative still exists.
