About Audrey Greenwood
Audrey Greenwood is a Luxury Yacht Broker with Flagship International Yacht Brokers, leading the company’s Queensland presence from the Gold Coast.
With more than 35 years of hands-on marine-industry experience, Audrey has built one of the more substantial brokerage careers in the Australian market. Her background covers recreational boating, powered catamarans, specialist marine transport, charter vessels, government marine disposals and the sale of large luxury yachts.
She has worked through several very different chapters of the Australian boating industry, from establishing her own brokerage in Noosa in the late 1980s to managing complex multimillion-dollar yacht transactions for clients today.
A lifelong connection with boating
Audrey’s connection with boating began during childhood trips on the water with her grandfather around Port Stephens.
Those early experiences developed into a lifelong interest in boats and eventually a full-time career in the marine industry. Rather than arriving in yacht sales from an unrelated commercial field, Audrey has spent most of her working life around vessels, owners, marine businesses and boat transactions.
Her public profile reflects practical boating and marine-operations experience rather than a published offshore racing record. Her strongest knowledge comes from decades of working directly with boats and the people who own, operate, transport, charter and sell them.
Starting her own brokerage in Noosa
Audrey entered yacht brokerage in the late 1980s and founded her own brokerage in Noosa when she was just 25.
Beginning a marine brokerage at that age was a significant step, particularly in an industry that was even more male-dominated than it is today. Audrey has since been described publicly as one of the pioneering women in Australian yacht brokerage.
Her early work focused particularly on powered catamarans. This gave her experience with vessels designed for recreational cruising, commercial use and access to Queensland’s rivers, bays and coastal waterways.
Powered catamarans come with their own design and ownership considerations, including twin-engine installations, beam, payload, fuel efficiency, hull design and marina requirements. Audrey’s experience in this market helped establish the practical knowledge that she later carried into larger yacht sales.
Specialist transport and charter vessels
Audrey also developed familiarity with specialist marine transport and charter vessels through her family’s involvement in that part of the industry.
Commercial and charter vessels require a different approach from standard recreational boats. Buyers may need to consider survey status, passenger capacity, safety requirements, operating areas, business records and the condition of systems exposed to frequent use.
Specialist marine transport can also involve unusual vessel layouts, commercial equipment and operational requirements that are not found aboard a conventional family cruiser.
This experience broadened Audrey’s understanding of boats as working assets, not only lifestyle purchases.
Moving into luxury yacht sales
In 2008, Audrey moved into the Gold Coast luxury boat market, working with larger yachts, premium brands and high-value transactions.
Luxury yacht sales involve considerably more than matching a buyer with an attractive boat. Transactions may include detailed inventories, professional surveys, sea trials, maintenance records, crew arrangements, interstate delivery, yacht management and careful negotiation between owners and prospective buyers.
Large vessels also carry substantial ongoing costs. Buyers need to understand marina requirements, insurance, maintenance, servicing, fuel, crew and future refit needs before making a commitment.
Audrey’s long marine background helps her guide these conversations with a practical understanding of what ownership will involve after settlement.
The sale of *Eendracht*
One of the standout transactions in Audrey’s career was the listing and sale of the 120-foot yacht *Eendracht*, now known as *Evolution*, on Sydney Harbour.
A yacht of this scale sits well beyond an ordinary recreational boat sale. The transaction required persistence, careful negotiation and the ability to work with a smaller group of highly qualified buyers.
Audrey has identified the sale as one of her proudest professional achievements. It demonstrates her ability to manage a significant large-yacht listing and maintain the confidence of owners and buyers through a complicated sales process.
Queensland Police marine disposals
Audrey has managed marine-asset disposals for the Queensland Police Service for more than 20 years.
Government disposal work calls for a clear and transparent process. Vessels and marine assets need to be described accurately, presented appropriately and sold through procedures that can withstand public and organisational scrutiny.
This long-running responsibility adds another interesting dimension to Audrey’s career. It shows experience beyond conventional private brokerage and highlights her familiarity with unusual vessels, marine equipment and formal sales requirements.
Joining Flagship International
Audrey joined Flagship International Yacht Brokers in late 2024 as the company expanded its Queensland operation.
She now works as a Luxury Yacht Broker from the Flagship Queensland office at Gold Coast City Marina in Coomera.
Flagship International handles premium new yachts, large pre-owned vessels, buyer representation and yacht management. Its network extends across Australia and into international yachting markets, providing Audrey with access to a wider audience for significant Queensland listings.
Her role involves working with buyers, sellers, owners, captains and marine professionals throughout the yacht transaction.
Current luxury-yacht experience
Audrey’s recent brokerage work includes a broad selection of premium powerboats and luxury yachts.
Publicly advertised vessels connected with her portfolio have included models from Horizon, Princess, Sunseeker, Fairline, Saxdor and Eastport, as well as larger custom and internationally recognised yachts.
Recent transactions and listings have included vessels such as:
- Horizon E98 Skylounge *Sovereign Lady II*
- Sunseeker Manhattan 68
- Princess V58 *Moonraker*
- Fairline Squadron 68
- Princess V65
- Eastport 32
- Saxdor 320 GTO
These vessels cover very different areas of the market, from compact performance boats to large flybridge yachts designed for extended cruising and crewed operation.
Marketing and presenting significant yachts
Large yachts require a detailed and carefully planned marketing campaign.
Professional photography, video, specifications and maintenance information all matter, but the broker also needs to understand the yacht’s layout, operating history and likely buyer.
Audrey’s approach includes assessing market interest, refining price positioning and presenting vessels through digital advertising, direct buyer relationships, boat shows and private inspections.
The sale of a Sunseeker Manhattan 68 under her management involved targeted marketing, high-quality visual presentation and display at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. This generated buyer interest and helped bring the transaction to a successful conclusion.
Her work on the sale of the Princess V58 *Moonraker* also included adjusting the asking figure in response to buyer sentiment, managing inspections and coordinating survey, sea trial and delivery.
Working with yacht buyers
For buyers, Audrey can assist with the practical and commercial stages of finding and purchasing a yacht.
This may include:
- Discussing the buyer’s intended use
- Identifying suitable vessels
- Arranging private inspections
- Reviewing available specifications and inventories
- Preparing an offer
- Negotiating price and contract conditions
- Coordinating independent surveys
- Arranging sea trials
- Discussing delivery and relocation
- Connecting owners with yacht-management support
- Coordinating settlement and handover
For larger yachts, additional considerations can include professional crew, berth availability, insurance, maintenance programs and the cost of operating the vessel throughout the year.
Working with yacht sellers
Audrey’s experience is equally relevant to owners preparing a yacht for sale.
She can help establish a market position, identify the likely buyer and advise on how the vessel should be presented. Maintenance records, service schedules, refit history and professional photography become particularly important when dealing with high-value boats.
Audrey also handles buyer enquiries, private inspections, negotiations and communication through survey and settlement.
Her experience with government disposals and complex large-yacht transactions adds a strong level of organisation and persistence to this process.
Relevance to sailing-yacht owners
Audrey’s current public portfolio leans strongly towards luxury motor yachts and larger power vessels. However, her broader marine-industry experience remains relevant to sailing-yacht owners, particularly those dealing with larger cruising yachts, commercial vessels or international transactions.
The practical stages of brokerage remain similar across sail and power. Condition, maintenance history, ownership structure, survey, sea trial, negotiation and settlement all need to be managed carefully.
Her network within Flagship International also gives her access to colleagues with specific experience in shipbuilding, yacht management, commercial operation and offshore sailing when a transaction requires additional specialist knowledge.
Queensland market knowledge
Audrey has spent much of her professional career in Queensland, including Noosa, the Gold Coast and other major boating regions.
Queensland has one of Australia’s largest recreational boating markets, with strong demand for cruising yachts, catamarans, luxury motor yachts and commercially operated vessels.
The state’s long coastline, tropical climate and access to the Whitsundays and Great Barrier Reef create an active market for boats designed for extended time aboard. It also introduces practical concerns around cyclone preparation, marina availability, ventilation, maintenance and tropical operating conditions.
Audrey’s long-term experience in this market helps her understand the priorities of both local owners and interstate buyers looking for vessels in Queensland.
What Audrey brings to a yacht transaction
Audrey’s main strength is the depth and variety of her marine career.
She has founded and operated a brokerage, sold powered catamarans, worked around specialist transport and charter vessels, managed government marine disposals and completed significant luxury-yacht transactions.
For buyers and sellers, this creates access to someone who understands both the personal and commercial sides of boat ownership.
Her career also carries wider significance within the Australian industry. Starting her own brokerage at 25 and building more than 35 years of experience has made her one of the country’s pioneering female yacht brokers.
