Broome Tours runs cruises from Cable Beach and Roebuck Bay aboard Ballena, a 42-foot sailing catamaran carrying up to 36 guests. The three-hour sunset cruise includes canapés, a complimentary drink and, conditions permitting, a swim in the boom net. The business also runs whale-watching sunset cruises, a mud-crabbing trip and fishing charters.

A local partnership with more than 10 years' experience in the region owns and runs the business, focusing on small groups and ecotourism. Ballena has shade, bean bags, two toilets, an air-conditioned galley and a fully serviced bar, and return transfers from Broome accommodation are included.

It suits couples, families and groups wanting a relaxed evening on the water, with child and family fares available, and the whole boat can be chartered for celebrations or corporate groups. Cruises run from April to early December, so check dates if you're visiting in the wet season.
