Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard is one of the Southern Hemisphere’s most capable marine-service destinations. Located on the Coomera River, it combines 200 wet berths, extensive dry storage and a vast specialist shipyard, welcoming vessels from family cruisers to superyachts up to approximately 75 metres.
It is a place where ambitious boat projects become achievable. Owners can berth, fuel, haul out, refit, store, provision and reconnect with the Gold Coast Broadwater from one exceptionally well-equipped waterfront precinct.
Wet berths provide high-capacity shore power, crane access and flexible casual, permanent and superyacht arrangements. A 24-hour fuel wharf delivers high-flow diesel and premium unleaded, while pump-out, provisioning and onsite hospitality complete the daily essentials.
The shipyard is the centrepiece: 300-tonne and 50-tonne travel lifts, enclosed refit sheds, a 50,000-square-metre hardstand, deep-keel facilities, blasting bays and a huge community of specialist trades support projects of every scale. The fully enclosed dry stack adds managed, easy-launch boating for smaller vessels, with valet service available seven days a week.
The Coomera River provides a bridge-free route to the Gold Coast Broadwater and Seaway, while the Gold Coast’s beaches, airport, shopping and accommodation are close enough to make crew changes and project logistics straightforward.
South Stradbroke Island, Tipplers Passage and the Broadwater anchorages are perfect for a reward cruise once work is complete. GCCM pairs global-standard technical capability with a genuinely enjoyable Gold Coast boating lifestyle.

Apollo Bay is a small working harbour on Victoria’s Great Ocean Road where sheltered inshore sailing meets the Southern Ocean. The character is a mix of protected harbour berths and an exposed open coast: pleasant day-sails and sheltered weekend cruising inside the bay, with demanding coastal passages immediately offshore where south‑westerly swell and strong winds from the Southern Ocean dominate. It suits coastal cruisers, trailer sailors who launch at the ramp, and experienced coastal sailors who understand bar and swell behaviour; it is not a casual open‑ocean anchorage for unprepared or
Plan as a chain of conservative daily legs tied to your boat’s real-world fuel and speed in the expected sea state, with confirmed primary and alternate anchorages/berths, fuel legs and back-up fuel options, and a documented emergency/diversion plan (comms, tow and med-evac). Build tidal and weather gates into each leg and carry chart and comms redundancy.
Explore →Plan passages across Spencer Gulf or to Kangaroo Island by basing fuel on your boat’s actual consumption plus a generous reserve, choosing sensible staging/stop options that match your boat and crew, and prioritising shelter and weather windows (gale fronts, strong winds and tidal streams can make the gulf uncomfortable or unsafe). Confirm fuel availability, safe anchorages or marinas on your route, and check up-to-date local weather, tide and navigation information before you go.

Explore →A good float plan and a well-stocked emergency kit significantly improve your chances of a safe outcome when cruising remote parts of South Australia’s coastline. The float plan should give someone ashore all the information they need to find you and raise help if you don’t return; the emergency kit should allow you to stabilise the boat, care for injuries, signal for rescue and survive until help arrives.
