Multihull Central is a yacht brokerage based at The Boat Works, Coomera (QLD), offering brokerage services for sailing vessels. Customers can enquire by phone or email and visit the Coomera yard address listed for in-person discussions.
Service area: Coomera, QLD
Multihull Central is an Australian-owned yacht brokerage built entirely around catamarans, trimarans and the multihull lifestyle. The company helps people buy and sell new and pre-owned sailing catamarans, power catamarans, performance multihulls and cruising yachts across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the wider South Pacific.
The business was founded by Brent Vaughan in 2013 and has grown into one of the region’s best-known specialist multihull brokerages. Its team includes yacht brokers, experienced sailors, captains, service professionals and brand specialists with more than 100 years of combined industry experience.
In Queensland, Multihull Central operates from The Boat Works North Yard in Coomera, right in the middle of one of Australia’s busiest marine precincts.

That specialisation is useful because multihulls come with their own design and ownership considerations. Beam, bridgedeck clearance, payload, twin engines, marina availability, helm visibility, ventilation and weight distribution can all influence how a catamaran performs and how practical it will be to own.
The team works with first-time catamaran buyers, experienced multihull sailors, families preparing for long-term cruising and owners moving between coastal, offshore and liveaboard boats.
Multihull Central represents a portfolio of recognised multihull builders. Its current brand range includes Seawind Catamarans, Corsair Trimarans, Outremer, Longreach Catamarans and the Garcia Explocat 52.
These brands cover several different areas of the market. Seawind is closely associated with practical Australian cruising catamarans, while Corsair produces folding performance trimarans. Outremer focuses on fast, lightweight bluewater catamarans, Garcia’s Explocat combines aluminium construction with expedition cruising, and Longreach offers long-range power catamarans.
The team helps buyers compare models, choose factory options, understand purchase contracts and work through the process of ordering a new boat. Support can continue through construction, delivery, commissioning, handover, warranty work and after-sales service.
For someone ordering a yacht from an overseas or interstate factory, having a local point of contact can make the process considerably easier.
The company also maintains a substantial selection of pre-owned sailing and power catamarans. Listings can include boats from Seawind, Leopard, Fountaine Pajot and many other production and custom builders.
Buyers can speak with a broker about suitable models, request inventories, arrange inspections and organise sea trials. The brokerage can also help coordinate the practical stages surrounding a purchase, including offers, surveys, documentation and settlement.
Pre-owned catamarans need to be assessed carefully because condition can vary enormously between vessels. Maintenance history, engine hours, rigging age, sails, electrical upgrades, batteries, solar installations, water systems and evidence of previous damage can all affect value and future ownership costs.
A specialist multihull broker can also help buyers understand less obvious considerations such as cruising weight, payload, bridgedeck clearance, structural history and how modifications may have affected the boat.
Owners can approach Multihull Central for a market appraisal and advice on preparing their boat for sale.
The brokerage considers the vessel’s model, age, location, condition, equipment, upgrades and current buyer demand when discussing its likely market position. Presentation can include professional photography, detailed specifications, service records and advertising written for people actively looking for multihulls.
Listings are promoted through the company’s website, buyer database, marine sales platforms, email campaigns, social media and its established online audience.
Because the business operates across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, listings may reach local, interstate and international buyers. The company can also discuss vessels located outside its immediate office locations.
Multihull Central works with people considering catamaran ownership through a commercial charter arrangement.
This can involve helping a buyer select a suitable boat, understand charter-fleet requirements and explore how personal use may fit around commercial bookings. The company publishes information about charter ownership, finance considerations, vessel selection and the steps involved in placing a catamaran into a managed charter operation.
Charter ownership is a specialised arrangement and is not suitable for everyone. Owners need to consider commercial compliance, maintenance, wear, management fees, availability for personal use, tax treatment and eventual resale. Multihull Central provides a starting point for these discussions and can connect prospective owners with relevant charter operators and professional advisers.
The company has partnered with Pacific Sailing School, an RYA-accredited training provider based at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, to offer practical catamaran sailing courses.
Published programs include five-day liveaboard training designed for catamaran owners and aspiring crew. Training aboard a multihull can help sailors become familiar with twin-engine manoeuvring, sail handling, anchoring, mooring, navigation and the different behaviour of a catamaran under power and sail.
The courses are suitable for people preparing to buy or charter a catamaran, as well as existing owners wanting more confidence before cruising independently.
Multihull Central also operates Cruz Club, a membership-based program that gives participants regular access to selected catamarans without immediately purchasing an entire vessel.
The program combines boat access, practical experience, coaching and a community of other sailors. Membership options have included Seawind sailing catamarans and Aquila power catamarans, with access available in selected cruising locations.
This can suit people who want to build experience, spend meaningful time aboard and understand catamaran ownership before committing to a purchase. Membership conditions, vessel availability and prices should be confirmed directly because individual boats and allocations can change.
The company produces a substantial amount of educational material for people researching catamarans and planning a cruising lifestyle.
Its online content includes detailed boat tours, virtual sea trials, buying guides, owner stories, cruising articles, webinars and the 2 Hulls 1 Life podcast. It also publishes material covering offshore preparation, multihull design, charter ownership and the practical realities of extended cruising.
Multihull Central has also supported multihull events, regattas and the Multihull Cruising Yacht Club, helping owners connect with other sailors and share experience beyond the initial boat purchase.

View profile and portfolio →Dangar Island sits in the lower Hawkesbury River close to Brooklyn and is one of Sydney’s small, boat‑access communities. From the water it reads as a wooded, low island with sandy foreshore, a public jetty and private moorings; its position at the mouth of Cowan Creek and close to the main river channel makes it an attractive short‑cruise destination for trailer sailors, runabouts and small cruisers but also one that requires careful local knowledge and respect for resident berths, ferry operations and tidal currents.
Local rules, marine‑park zoning and permit needs vary by reserve around South Australia’s coast — check the relevant marine park zoning map and SA Department for Environment and Water (DEW) information for the exact area before you go.

Use ramps and beaches with respect for local conditions: check ramp layout, tide and swell, wind direction, vehicle access and crowding; prepare boat and crew before you launch or retrieve; and follow local signage, courtesy and safety practices. Legal safety equipment for recreational boats in South Australia depends on the type, size and where you operate; you must check the current SA government requirements for your vessel. Independently of legal minimums, carry a sensible set of recommended items (lifejackets, means of communication, signaling, fire protection, anchor and basic tools) and make them usable and maintained.

Maybe — it depends. In NSW you often need registration and a boat operator licence for motorised vessels, but many small trailerable sailing dinghies without engines don’t require boat registration or a licence. Check the specific rules for your craft, trailer and engine.
