About
Whitworths Marine & Leisure is one of Australia’s best-known chandlery networks, with a major online store and a Mona Vale branch for hands-on shopping. Its enormous range covers sailing hardware, rope, anchors, safety, electronics, electrical systems, pumps, maintenance, clothing, tenders and cruising comforts — a true one-stop shop for boat and crew.
Service area: Mona Vale, NSW
Whitworths is a familiar name to generations of Australian boat owners. The Mona Vale store gives Northern Beaches sailors a full-service retail counter, while the national online shop makes the same broad chandlery range available around Australia.
Almost every practical area of boat ownership is represented: anchoring and mooring, rope and rigging, deck hardware, pumps and plumbing, electrical and electronics, navigation, safety equipment, paint and maintenance, covers, tenders, trailer gear, clothing and onboard comfort. It works equally well for a handful of consumables or a long seasonal refit list.
Keep exploring
The breadth is the attraction. You can compare alternatives across established marine brands, inspect fittings and clothing in store, order online for delivery or use click-and-collect where available. Regular catalogues and specials also make it worth checking before a planned purchase.
You want a reliable one-stop chandlery, need an urgent item from a physical store, or are combining hardware, safety equipment, electrical gear and crew clothing in one order.

“I’d just like to say thank you to Steve. He was super helpful in giving me advice yesterday for anchoring a pool cover for one of my customers. You’re a legend Steve - regards, Dave at Pool Nerds”
“Despite their price matching policy, the manager of Mona Vale store refused to match an advertised price for a Lowrance fish finder. I was told that the online seller was a boat dealer and the price would not be matched, nothing in the policy stating boat dealers are exempt. Don’t have the price match policy if you are not prepared to honor it. I will shop at RTM and BCF for all marine products in future.”
Hi Ivo, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience at our Mona Vale store. To clarify, we're happy to look at price matches from legitimate Australian retailers, including boat dealers & online sellers, provided they meet the criteria outlined in our Price Match Policy. Based on your comments, it sounds like there may have been a misunderstanding, and we'd like the opportunity to look into it. If you could send us some further information to help@whitworths.com.au with the product details or a link to the advertised price.
“Wow, this is the place to get anything marine. The staff are helpful and so knowledgeable!”
Hey Richard, we're so glad you had a great experience at our Mona Vale store - thanks for sharing the feedback. Happy boating!
“Good marine shop. Has a good range of stuff.”

Bermagui is a compact south‑coast fishing port and coastal village on New South Wales’ Sapphire Coast. It’s best known to sailors for its working harbour, access to productive offshore grounds and a reachable string of sheltered bays and beaches. The sailing here mixes short coastal passages, inshore cruising and sheltered daysails rather than long ocean passages; it suits trailer‑able keelboats, motor cruisers and small offshore yachts. Expect a destination where commercial fishing activity and changing swell patterns shape anchorages and arrival choices — preparation and local knowledge pay.
Carry wearable lifejackets (one per person that fits), a reliable means of distress communication, basic firefighting and bilge items, navigation lights and charts, plus sensible clothing, sun protection and drinking water. Exact legal requirements vary by state and vessel — check the relevant regulator before you go.
Explore →Recover a capsize by staying calm, keeping hold of the boat, using the centreboard/daggerboard as a lever and the crew’s weight to right the hull, and controlling the sail so you don’t re–capsize. For double‑handers coordinate helm and crew roles: one manages the centreboard and body position, the other eases sheets and checks for gear.

Requirements vary by jurisdiction and by the species of animal, so check the relevant state/territory biosecurity office, the park management agency and the marina operator before you travel.
Explore →A good float plan and a well-stocked emergency kit significantly improve your chances of a safe outcome when cruising remote parts of South Australia’s coastline. The float plan should give someone ashore all the information they need to find you and raise help if you don’t return; the emergency kit should allow you to stabilise the boat, care for injuries, signal for rescue and survive until help arrives.
