Definition
Steering can be restored by streaming a drogue or bight of warp from the quarters and adjusting its lead to swing the stern, by lashing a spinnaker pole with a floorboard or locker lid bolted to it as a sweep, or on a twin-engine vessel by differential throttle. Sail balance also steers: easing the main and sheeting the headsail bears the bow away, and the reverse brings it up.
