Definition
Reflected signals arrive slightly later than the direct signal and bias the range measurement, typically by a few metres at sea but potentially much more alongside steel structures or quay walls. Low elevation satellites and reflective surfaces such as a wet coachroof, radar scanner or mast are the usual culprits. Siting the antenna clear of and slightly above metallic structures, with an unobstructed sky view, is the practical remedy.
