Definition
A port, anchorage or sheltered bay identified in advance as reachable if the weather deteriorates, a crew member is injured or gear fails. For each one the plan should note the approach and its dangers, the depth and any tidal access restriction, whether entry is feasible at night or with an onshore wind and swell, and the contact channel. On a coastal passage bolt-holes should be spaced so one is always within reach.
