Definition
RTK resolves the whole-cycle ambiguity of the satellite carrier wave rather than relying only on code measurements, using a data link from a base station or network correction service. Once ambiguities are fixed, horizontal accuracy of one to two centimetres is achievable, degrading as the baseline from the base extends beyond a few tens of kilometres. It is used for hydrographic survey, dredging and berthing systems rather than routine yacht navigation.
