Definition
RAIM uses redundant measurements to test the consistency of the solution: with five usable satellites a receiver can detect that one range is faulty, and with six it can usually identify and exclude the offender. The result is an integrity warning rather than an accuracy improvement, alerting the navigator that the displayed position may not meet the required alert limit. Not all basic yacht receivers implement it.
