Definition
After lowering the anchor to the bottom and dropping back under wind, tide or gentle astern power while veering cable, the engine is used astern at moderate revolutions once the full scope is out. Transits or a bearing are watched to confirm the vessel is stationary and the cable comes taut and steady rather than juddering. Never let the anchor pile on top of itself, as it will not dig in.
