Keep exploring
Coral Sea Marina Resort places visiting yachts in the heart of Airlie Beach and at the gateway to the Whitsundays’ spectacular islands, beaches and coral-fringed anchorages. With 520 wet berths accommodating vessels from cruising yachts to superyachts of up to 80 metres, it brings together serious marine capability and the easy sophistication of a waterfront resort.
Every stay feels connected to the destination. Restaurants, cafés, guest facilities and the Airlie Beach foreshore are all moments from the docks, while Whitehaven Beach, Hook Island, Cid Harbour and the secluded bays of the Whitsundays are waiting beyond the breakwater.
Berths include shore power and fresh water, with deep-water superyacht positions offering substantial three-phase electrical capacity and dedicated crew support. The 24-hour fuel wharf provides high-flow diesel, and in-berth pump-out adds an exceptional level of convenience for larger vessels and extended stays. A 60-tonne travel lift and surrounding marine precinct connect owners with shipwrights, mechanics, electricians, riggers, sailmakers, chandlery and vessel-management specialists.
Guest amenities elevate the marina well beyond a simple berth. The floating Ocean Club offers private ensuite bathrooms, laundry, Wi-Fi, a sundeck and barbecue facilities, complemented by additional marina-village amenities, a guest lounge, gym access, courtesy vehicles and resort pool privileges. Gated docks, CCTV and round-the-clock security support peace of mind, while an impressive collection of waterfront restaurants and cafés makes dining ashore effortless.
The marina’s breakwater is an unmistakable Airlie Beach landmark, opening into a protected basin used by private yachts, superyachts and the Whitsundays’ renowned charter fleet. Once secured, crews can walk to the Airlie Beach lagoon, supermarkets, boutiques and nightlife, with local suppliers also able to deliver provisions directly to the vessel.
The Whitsunday Passage begins almost at the marina entrance. Cid Harbour and Nara Inlet offer beautiful sheltered anchorages, Hook Island brings exceptional snorkelling and scenery, and Whitehaven Beach is within a relaxed half-day sail. The south-east trade-wind season creates brilliant sailing conditions through winter and spring, making Coral Sea Marina Resort an exceptional home base for discovering one of the world’s great cruising grounds.

A detailed cruising guide for sailors approaching Bruny Island from the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, Storm Bay and the Tasman Sea. It describes the island’s maritime geography, seasonal wind and swell patterns, principal sailing zones, anchorages, visitor facilities, hazards, regulatory constraints and a set of practical sailing experiences tailored to trailer yachts, family cruisers and passagemakers. The guide links sheltered channel sailing with exposed southern-coast passages and offers realistic expectations of services ashore.
Expect very different seasonal systems across Western Australia: the south‑west (Perth to Albany) has a strong summer afternoon sea breeze (the “Fremantle Doctor”) and winter westerly fronts, while northern WA follows a wet/dry monsoonal cycle with strong seasonal onshore winds, thunderstorms and cyclone risk in the wet season. Local headlands, estuaries and tidal flows often change what you actually feel on the water, so learn the local timing and sheltered venues first.
Explore →Expect light to moderate, thermally-driven sea breezes in summer with afternoon strengthening; more changeable and often stronger winds with frontal systems in autumn and spring; and the windiest, roughest conditions in winter when cold fronts and sou’westers are most frequent. Gulf St Vincent is more sheltered than the exposed coast but can still produce steep chop and sudden changes near Adelaide and headlands.
Explore →Plan as a chain of conservative daily legs tied to your boat’s real-world fuel and speed in the expected sea state, with confirmed primary and alternate anchorages/berths, fuel legs and back-up fuel options, and a documented emergency/diversion plan (comms, tow and med-evac). Build tidal and weather gates into each leg and carry chart and comms redundancy.
Explore →Pick a protected bay, estuary or river reach where you can rig, launch and arrive on calm water within a short, sheltered transit; choose a site with a good ramp or jetty, clear recovery options and a nearby sailing club, marina or commercial operator for local knowledge and help.
