Definition
The SENC is the ECDIS's own optimised database, created by loading base cells, applying every official update in sequence, adding any mariner's manual updates, and converting the result into a form the display engine can draw and query quickly. Alarms, route checks and cursor pick reports all interrogate the SENC rather than the delivered files. Some suppliers deliver data already converted, which shortens loading time on large folios.
