Definition
Lanes are shown by broad purple arrows indicating the established direction of traffic flow, with the separation zone tinted or hatched between them and the outer limits drawn as dashed purple lines. Inshore traffic zones lie between the scheme and the coast. Schemes marked as IMO adopted carry the full force of COLREGs Rule 10; those not adopted by IMO are advisory but still charted. Precautionary areas are ringed and often carry a roundabout symbol.
